3. Forecasts and opportunities for IT human resource needs

Although there is an increasing trend in salaries and benefits in the IT industry, far exceeding other industries, forecasts show that Vietnam will face a shortage of 150,000 to 200,000 programmers and engineers annually from 2023 to 2025. Forecasts and opportunities for IT human resource needs

The majority of employers in Vietnam (87.3%) prioritize recruiting people with academic degrees (university/college or higher) in the technology field. In contrast, only 5.4% of employers are willing to hire candidates without technology degrees for positions in the IT industry. Priority will be given to candidates who have completed a vocational training program or have a professional certificate, at 16.4% and 13.6% respectively. With the modern technology recruitment model, it seems that more and more people without technology degrees also have the opportunity to enter the IT labor market without lacking recognition.

According to experts, the unfavorable economic situation is pushing business goals and survival to the forefront instead of digital transformation. This situation not only affects the demand for information technology in non-technology companies but also affects companies specializing in information technology because the number of projects is less or projects have smaller scale from corporate customers.
